Beautiful - CMS #22

This color palette from Color Me Scrappy is not the traditional Christmas colors, but the inspiration picture was.  Although I did not scrap a Christmas moment, I did scrap something very rare...  ME.

I always seem to be on the other side of the camera and end up in very few pictures.  The pictures that I do show up in, I'm picky as to which ones I actually scrapbook.  Is everyone this picky?  I feel very critical of myself.

Not to long ago, I've started an ABC album about me.  It is a work in progress, but I believe that this page will be used for that purpose.

Here is what I came up with:

Happy - CMS #21

These challenges are just flying by.  It seems that I haven't done any challenges besides CMS in a while, but I think it's been because of Christmas.  I'm looking forward to a little time off of our busy schedules so that I can accomplish some pages.

Pam and I are working on a new challenge.  We've committed to completing 50 pages before we buy anything scrappy related.  Of course, there is 1 exception...  glue.  My scrapbooking room is quite full and I need to eliminate some of the old stuff I have.  This challenge is a good way to do that.  Does anyone want to join us?  We are just getting started, so please come along for the ride.

This page is not one of my 50!

I loved this color palette from Color Me Scrappy.

The colors were just so warm and cozy.  In addition to the colors, you had to use the word "twist" or "spin" on your page.

This is my take on it.

Block Party - CMS #20

I really enjoyed this challenge at Color Me Scrappy.  Although I found the colors difficult to use, I'm glad I didn't skip this one!  I think with the muted BG, the pictures on this page really pop off the page.

These pictures were taken at our neighborhood block party in June.  Oh, and did I mention, this took place on the same day that we moved into our new house.  What a way to welcome us to the neighborhood!

I love using up old supplies!  And talk about old...  this BG paper must be vintage!

Freedom - CMS #19

Pam and I recently went on a scrappy weekend. I managed 19 pages that weekend, which I'm totally pleased about.  I try to set a goal each time I go, but normally don't reach it.  This time, my goal was 20 pages.  1 page shy of my goal.  Oh well, maybe next time.

One of the fun things that Pam and I do, is that if we feel our pages are taking too long, we set a timer.  We give ourselves 1 hour to create a page from start to finish.  More times than not, we love our work because we don't think too much about what we are doing.  Sometimes, during the creative process, we tend to overthink what we are putting on the page.  By setting the timer, it gets us to act more quickly.

When you go for a scrapbooking weekend, how many pages do you normally get done? Inquiring minds want to know.

Here is what I did for Color Me Scrappy, challenge #19.

Ribbit - CMS #18

So, a couple of months ago, I decided to go on a buying boycott.  I refuse to buy any more scrapping supplies because I REALLY need to use the stuff that I have.  My scrapbooking room is bursting at the seams.  Yes, those manufacturers are really making it difficult because I am a paper addict.  Every time I go to a crafting store (I'm shopping for Christmas decorations), I have to wander through the scrapbooking section to look.  Much to my surprise, I haven't found anything that I HAD to have.  Are there things I want, yes, but I have stood my ground well.

I've added a few items to my Christmas list, so keep your fingers crossed.  My husband is good and normally he stuffs my stocking with scrappy goodies.

I've come to a realization that in 5, 10, or 20 years when my family is looking through their books, they will not be able to tell if I used paper from a collection that was just released or if the paper and embellies were 5 years old.  They love the book itself, the photos, the comments, and the thought that I put time and effort into making memories last.  That's what is important.

Okay, onto the next challenge at Color Me Scrappy.  I loved these colors.

Check This Out - CMS #17

Wow.  I've been absent from my blog lately.  I apologize for that.

To tell you the truth, this new puppy we got is really keeping me on my toes.  I have to keep him within sight all the time, or at least I think that I have to.  He has been doing very good in the potty area and I don't want to press my luck.  As I type this out, Knox is curled up next to me on the couch.

Challenge # 17 at Color me Scrappy was really tough for me.  This is actually my second page that I did for this challenge.  I don't dare show the first one...  LOL!

Anyway, here it is.

Relax - CMS #16

Okay, my first reveal as Team B at Color Me Scrappy.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these colors!  It really reminds me of the beach.

The extra with this challenge is to use the work "enter".

Can you believe that I completed this page without the extra?  I was mad at myself for forgetting that detail, but it was remedied by using it in the journalling!

These letters look chocolate brown in this pic, but they are really silver...

Skyline - CMS #15

I absolutely love the new Color Me Scrappy.  Each challenge is a color challenge with a little "extra".  It really inspires me, and I'm not just saying that because I am on the DT.  Actually, I'm on DT-Team B, but this challenge is forTeam A, AND I'm still doing it!

The colors were great this time around and the sketch has so much to interpret.  Love it!

No-Title CSI #43

My question to everyone...

Does every page really NEED a title?

I created this page and didn't realize that it didn't have a title until I took the picture, edited it, and then went to save it and realized...  oops, no title.  To be honest, I was going to go back and make a title, but that would require to do the whole process over again, and since we are leaving for Disney in just 31/2 short hours, I thought...  just go with no title and see.

Vintage Wheels - CSI #39

Sometime ago, I went to scrapbook with a girlfriend and forgot to pack my pictures.  So that entire time, I designed pages without a photo in mind.  And to be honest, some of those are my most loved LOs.

When I started this page, I really didn't have a plan. I didn't have a picture that went along with the color combination at CSI, so I just started to pull things out.  This is what transpired...

As I was pulling everything together, a vintage theme started to form.

This is what happened to me...  It was literally like a light bulb going off...

I knew that I had the perfect picture to go with the theme that had presented itself.

I thought that I could definitely use this in my ABC book of me.  As I looked through my album...
"W", for wheels, was taken,
"T", for truck, was taken,
"R", for Ratt-Rod, was taken.

"Vintage Wheels" it was.  Seriously, what other "V" can you think of?

And then, because I'm doing this to meet the challenge requirements of CSI (along with a sketch from Once Upon A Sketch), I had to find a spot for journaling.  The sketch really didn't provide a good place to add the journaling, but I had to use one element from the testimony list, so I made my own little booklet and began journaling.

I'm quite pleased with the outcome even though it took me way longer than I anticipated!

Up Up & Away - CMS #13

It's October 1st, the leaves are changing, the kids are back in the swing of things... Fall is right around the corner. Fall is the best. I LOVE IT!

Another thing I love? Color Me Scrappy!

The colors this time are down right fabulous. Maybe it's the inspiration picture that really pull them together? Either way, that pale yellow and deep blue are so striking! I'm not sure if anyone else feels the same way?

Here are the colors...

charred hues

And my take...

I actually used a sketch from Scrap Friends on this one, but I missed the deadline on that one, but here is the sketch anyway...

A closer look at the title.  These are painted chipboard, but funny thing is, you can't tell that they are even painted.  I got out my paint, took a stroke, and did a double take at my brush to make sure I actually dipped into the paint.

I was looking for a different way to make a "stitching" without dragging out my sewing machine.  Well, actually, my sewing machine is always out but maybe I was just too lazy to get out of my seat at that particular moment.  So, I grabbed more paint.  This was created by putting some dots of paint on the BG by using the handle end of the paint brush.  And then, when it is still wet, drag the same end of the brush through the paint.

I've been working on my layering lately.  I think it's getting better.  What do you think?  I've struggled with it, but I've come to the realization that I just have to stop over-thinking it.  You just have to go with it.
